Friday Find: Bird Apparel

via Bird Apparel on Etsy
When it comes to summer, I live in T-shirts, tanks and shorts. That's it really. They're easy and comfortable. So of course, I'm always on the look out for fun Ts and tanks. Yesterday I found this fun cloud T from Bird Apparel on Etsy. Then I clicked through and found more fun pieces (how cute is this girl's polka dot poncho?). The best part is that this is a local shop in Toronto. Love that.

Have a great weekend!

Choosing a deck stain

Monday, May 12, 2014

If you follow me on instagram, you know that we did a little deck staining this weekend. We opted to start with the horizontal uppers first, planning to do the floor and fence later. Our original plan was to do everything dark, but once we had the slats done we thought that maybe the floor would be too hot on our feet if it were dark. We had a couple of ideas like doing the floor another colour, or doing a border in the dark with the floor a walnut or something, but I thought I'd throw it out here to see what you thought.

As an FYI, the white part of the house you see there will be covered in stone and the windows will be redone.

The colour of the dark uppers is Charcoal by Wood-Shield Beauti-Tone (it shows a bit darker on the wood in my opinion)

What would you do?

New Home Time Lapse

Monday, May 05, 2014

My sister Kaitlynn and her fiance Alex finished building their new home about a month ago and they were fortunate enough to find a house to rent across the street which allowed them to watch the whole building process.

Alex had the foresight  to set up a camera in the window of the rental and this week released this time lapse video. It's such a cool video to have, especially because the original house was Alex's family home when he was growing up. The only downside is that while they were moving in, Alex proposed to Kaitlynn on the road between the houses hoping to get it on the video, but it didn't work! Regardless it's neat to watch.

Happy Monday!

Friday Find: Swing Bed

Friday, May 02, 2014

I don't know how I found this swing bed from Low Country Swing Beds. I started looking at lavender things because I was inspired by my new lavender plant and somehow I found this beautiful swing bed. There's nothing I like to do more in the summer than sit on the porch and wouldn't it be amazing to sit on the front porch on this bed. Yes please.

Happy weekend.
