Gift guide for someone who lives in the kitchen

Tuesday, November 17, 2015

I have this friend... we'll call her Bethany*... who spends all her time in the kitchen making food for her family. She cooks, cleans, bakes, chops, stirs, serves, sprinkles, wipes, and eats of course (rinse and repeat). I'm sure many of you can relate. Bethany doesn't mind doing all of this stuff on a daily basis, but wouldn't it be so much fun if the things she used were fun to look at? That's where Etsy comes in handy.  Etsy has a Holiday Hub where you can find all these fun things and more.

I went through the Hub this week and made a list of fun things you can buy me... ahem... Bethany this year for Christmas.

French Butter Keeper from Sawyer Ceramics
Personalized Slate Serving Board from Healthy Inside Out

Writable (ART)issn Cheese Markers from Peppersprouts

Ceramic Salt Cellar from NoeMarin
Linen Napkins from Pillowlink

Bon Appetit Wall Art from Hampty Dampty Art

Personalized Knife Rack from Norden Designs

Gray Ceramic Plates from Bininaor

Peace on Earth Serving Spoon from Milk and Honey Luxuries

Find your own fun things at in the Etsy Holiday Hub here.

*For some reason some people hear Bethany when I say Stephanie.

Etsy Christmas Market

christmas gift ideas

Minimilist white pottery pitcher & sugar set

Foldover leather bottom every day bag

Doha metallic gunmetal & natural hand printed organic hemp pillow cover

At the moment, I'm listening to jazz on Jazz FM and thinking of Christmas. Jazz seems to always do it for me: the warm melodies remind me of sitting by a fire, covered in a blanket while it's snowing outside.

It's also nap time for the wee one so the house is quiet and I started thinking about what I wanted to do for Christmas. Like most days I thought of Etsy and what I could get for who for the holidays.

Then I thought: how about I create a Christmas market and share it with everyone!

So here we have my Etsy Christmas Market. I scoured the site looking for things I love and that I thought others would love and put them in a favourites list. I didn't separate it by gender or theme; it's just one big list of pretty things to browse through as though you were at a sweet little market in town.

Have a look and see if anything catches your eye. If you need to come back, I've put a button on the side for easy access.

Enjoy and Happy Christmas shopping!

the twelve dates project

Monday, January 14, 2013

This Christmas, the hubster and I decided not to buy each other gifts. The reality is that we do this every year (well we're supposed to do this every year... last year he surprised me with a diamond pendant necklace.). This year we decided that in lieu of gifts, we'd give each other dates, since, like many new parents, we're severely lacking in the dates department.

I called it the Twelve Date Project. We each had to come up with a date a month and although it would be tough for us to go on two dates a month, we'd at least have some nice ideas to run with.

I presented my dates in this little book fashion. I used Pixlr to create 12 cards and stuck them together with a ribbon. It's really small; something Mark can put in his pocket so he can remember our dates!

So there you have it! A very cool way to celebrate just being together and hanging out.
