mudroom touch-up
Tuesday, January 08, 2013
Hi folks! I wanted to share another quickie project that we managed to get done over the holidays and that's the window frame in the mudroom. It's been on the house list since 2011, so I was pretty happy to get it finished.
I have to admit that the pictures in this post are deceiving. Personally when I'm looking at the photo above I prefer it to my after shots and that's mainly because the before photo was taken when the room was empty (a rarity these days!) and the after shot is smack in the middle of Christmas chaos, so the room is pretty messy.
Anyway!
There's the before up there...
And the after!
Now this window is pretty big for the size of the room and the frame makes it look even bigger, but we wanted to mimic the style of the bathroom door frame which is directly across from the window.
It makes such a big difference. Just cleans it up (when the room is clean of course!).
Next up is a nice roman blind. Who knows when I'll get to that!
pillow swap
Monday, April 09, 2012
Hope you all had a nice long weekend! We did a ton of driving and I'm paying for it today I think - I'm super tired (that passenger sitting is tough work! ;)). Leo slept for four hours at daycare - we're all out of it!
To add some brightness to my day, I thought I'd share a little pillow swap I did last week. We got a new rug for the living room (more on that in a later post!) and my pretty orange pillows just didn't look right in the room anymore unfortunately.
I decided to swap them out for the pillows we had in the mudroom. Here is what was there before:
And the bright after!
Wow I really need to clean those windows! ;)
ps- find me on facebook and twitter too!

mudroom - the hooks
Tuesday, November 09, 2010
The mudroom is moving right along: next up we have some hooks! We had a bit of wood leftover from the bench, so we decided to use it to make a hook rack that we could use to hang for coats etc.

Next up is the window trim, which I believe it will be made in the next week or so. Happy week y'all!

mudroom - the bench
Tuesday, October 26, 2010
One of the items on my list of things to do before the baby comes was to build a little bench for the mudroom. A while back I fell in love with this bench and thought that one similar would be perfect for the room.

I managed to score some reclaimed wood from my best friend's dad and I ordered the legs from hairpinlegs.com. Then something magical happened: I went to my book club* Friday night and when I returned the bench was finished! Mark had put it together while I was out and I could not be happier with the results. I LOVE IT.

Next on the list is to put some framing around the window and make a blind of some sort. I'd also like to find some baskets to put under the bench and put some hooks up on the other wall. Stay tuned!
*My book club consists of reading a book with 3 of my good friends and then we meet for dinner somewhere, discuss it for five minutes and then chat about other things for 2-3 hours. :)
