Seems I have a lobster in the house!
My sister went to New Brunswick awhile back and came home with this lobster hat for Leo. It didn't quite fit, but I just turned it around and it does the trick. Yesterday I went to Fabricland to get material for the rest of the costume... total cost: around seven bucks :).
And we can't forget the little one! She's a pumpkin ballerina ;)
Have a great Halloween everyone!
faking the sun
Monday, October 29, 2012
It's pretty depressing to see the forecast for this week - RAIN. Thanks Sandy!
But I do have a bit of reprieve. Outside my window is a gorgeous yellow maple (at least I think it's a maple - arbory [aboristing??] is not one of my strong suits).
Yes that is also a pic of our poor dying cherry blossom tree |
So in the midst of this crazy wind and gloomy skies, I feel like it's sunny out every time I look out the window. Now if only this tree could stay through the long winter...
pumpkins!
Monday, October 29, 2012
Mark brought some pumpkins home last week and got carving Saturday with his little assistant.
Pretty cute!
We put them on the porch and about an hour later the shifty city squirrels got to one of them, so now the pumpkin on the right has a bit of a wonky eye :).
mirror and stuff in the nursery
Wednesday, October 24, 2012
We finally put the mirror up in the nursery. The glass was broken and we were waiting on replacement glass and then we had to paint it. Anyway it's up now!
The other night I whipped up some bunting to put on it. I kind of wanted a different kind of bunting because this style is all over the place, but it's so easy to do and it's still kind of cute. I just took some of the paper I used for the blocks on my wall and sewed it to some yellow bias tape I had on hand.
In other news, I filled this little white frame with an M I found on the net. It's a drop-cap from Daily Drop Cap.
And I moved the chair over to the corner beside the crib.
I also put this super sweet hair clip holder on the closet door. My friend made it! She's so talented...
Anyway the room is done for now!

fall sunday photo bomb

Yesterday, the fam ended up going on not one but two fall hikes! The first was at Sherwood Park Forest at Mount Pleasant and Eglinton. It was SO beautiful - the colours were out in full force!
The leaves gave everything an orange glow. So pretty.
My poor attempt at a self family pic. It wasn't too bad except we're missing one important member....
There she is!
We live on the west end of the city and of course Leo fell asleep in the car. We were going to Hamilton later in the day (to Mark's parent's house), so we decided to just continue on and take the long way along the Lakeshore so Leo could nap. We drive this way all the time and I highly recommend it over the boring highway. It's such a pretty drive.
Hope you had a great weekend!

Once we got to Hamilton, we trekked out for our second fall walk near Mark's parent's house

Oh here we are again - assume position! |
The colours were fantastic here too! Everything was yellow!
new business idea
Wednesday, October 17, 2012
I have an idea for a business and please if someone wants to take my idea and run with it, I encourage you. Just make sure I'm the first house on the stop.
The idea is to create The Dish Bitch. Sorry I know that name is crude, but it's the first thing that popped into my head.
Let's call him/her The Dish Bee instead for now. So The Dish Bee would only come to your house to do the dishes and that's it.
We keep the rest of the house pretty clean and tidy so we don't feel the need for a cleaning person, but if someone were to come and do the dishes for us, I would love him or her forever.
OH and since we're talking about new business ideas, I have another idea that someone would come to my house to give me a hair cut, mani and pedi. Yes please!
Any business idea takers? :)
sunday junction adventure
Monday, October 15, 2012
This past Sunday while Leo was napping, Miss Mila and I went on a little adventure to The Junction to check out The Junction Flea. I used to live there right out of university, so I always love going back to the 'hood.
Above is a pic of where I used to live - second floor right over top of good 'ol Eva's Hair Stylists and no, Mila's middle name did not come from my time here! ;)
I didn't really know what to expect, but I thought there would be more vendors selling crafty type things, but it wasn't really the case. I didn't see too much that caught my eye, but I can tell you that I had the most amazing pork dumplings from this feasT.O place. Um yum.
I also found a really cool mug for 10 bucks. Well, technically it's a beer stein, but the guy said if I'm really careful I can put hot liquids into it.
I love the handle and the colour and it's the perfect fit in my hand. Now if only I could find five more just like it...
Hope you had a nice weekend!
miss mila - two months

Look at this little chubster! She's getting the cute michelin tire rings round her wrists and she's also got some chubby little legs. So cute.
I was telling my hubby tonight that I feel like she's already learned the 'If I cry she'll come to see me' thing. When I put her down to sleep tonight, she was fussing for a bit so I went in to see her and she stopped and gave me a big smile. Little bugger. They get you early.
Just in case you forgot what she looked like a month ago:
Happy Sunday!
